Rennovation

This former olive mill from the 15th century is hidden in a small village of the Languedoc, France.

The absence of pre-existing internal partitions made it possible to renovate with the insertion of contrasting elements such as polycarbonate and iron walls, still consenting a correct understanding of the original space.

The structure is made of huge sandstone blocks, with many intact original features hinting at its original function. Thanks to a system pumping water from the huge stone basins found under the building, carved by pickaxe, a series of small canals, tanks and millstones found in the courtyard, tools belonging to the past olive-mill working life, have been brought back to life.
